Montgomery Man Shot While Working; Court Records Show Suspect Was Out On Bail

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) — A Montgomery man is recovering after being shot in the stomach while working at a business on Upper Wetumpka Road, an incident that began with an attempted theft of a vape pen.

Troy DeHaven was on the job at Mac’s Tavern on Tuesday afternoon when a man entered the business and caused a disturbance, according to DeHaven’s sister, who asked not to be identified.

She said her brother noticed what was happening during a shift change and shouted at the suspect. The man then put the vape down and backed out of the store before firing three shots, one of which struck DeHaven in the stomach…
