Beloved Montgomery restaurant grieves death of owner

The owner of a long-standing local restaurant has died, leaving the Montgomery community and restaurant staff grieving.

Vicki Lammon, owner of Vicki’s Lunch Van, passed on Feb. 2. She was 70 years old, and her obituary notes she “passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and sons… after a hard fought battle with cancer.”

“Vicki had a generous spirit that many can attest to and had a heart for those less fortunate,” the obituary states. “Most of that generosity came anonymously because she enjoyed giving for no reason at all. She would rather receive her credit in Heaven than on earth.”

Vicki’s Lunch Van began, as the name implies, with nothing more than a van that she would park in front of local businesses for over 10 years. The operation earned a reputation as a “household name” over the years, Lammon’s obituary notes. The brick-and-mortar location at 106 Coliseum Blvd. — which most notably serves cheeseburgers, hot dogs and nacho salads — has been a Montgomery favorite for locals and food writers alike…
