Voters may soon be able to decide on lottery in Alabama

A push for a state lottery is gaining traction at the Alabama State House. Rep. Phillip Ensler is advocating for a lottery-only proposal, aiming to put the decision in the hands of voters.

Ensler emphasized the simplicity of the proposal, noting Alabama residents haven’t had the chance to vote on a lottery since 1999. He believes that separating the lottery from broader gambling issues could lead to success this time around.

“This is long overdue. It has been almost 30 years since residents last had an opportunity to vote on a lottery. We should put this on the ballot,” Ensler said…
