WETUMPKA − An Eclectic man faces murder charges after an Friday night altercation over touching a vehicle in the parking lot of a Slapout convenience store, Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin said.
Aaron Mays, 23, faces the charge in the Feb. 13 fatal shooting of Joel Whitus, 42, of Millbrook, that occurred about 10 p.m, Franklin said.
Whitus and another man had been attending a Beat the Streets meeting, a community anti-drug and anti-violence effort, earlier, Franklin said. They called the other man’s girlfriend to pick them up, and the three went to the store. Mays was the passenger in another vehicle that pulled up immediately after the vehicle that Whitus was riding in, Franklin said…
