WETUMPKA − A man facing murder charges in a parking lot shooting of a Slapout convenience store acted in self-defense, his attorney says.
Aaron Mays, 22, of Millbrook faces charges in the Feb. 13 incident, said Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin. After an Aniah’s Law hearing Tuesday morning, the court ruled Mays would be held without bond in the case, said District Attorney CJ Robinson. The law gives judges the power to hold suspects of certain violent crimes without bond.
“It’s a clear case of self-defense,” said Terry Luck, Mays’ attorney.”When someone reaches into your car and slaps your face, and shows you they have a gun, you have a right to defend yourself. We look forward to having our side heard in court.”…
