MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Arrests have been made in connection to two separate attempts to bring contraband into Alabama prison facilities, the Alabama Department of Corrections confirmed.
The arrests were made in separate incidents on Saturday and Sunday and took place at Staton Correctional and Ventress Correction.
The first arrests happened on Valentine’s Day at Staton. An ADOC K-9 team took suspects Tyrone Davis and Kelvin Gibbons into custody on multiple charges.
Those include:
- Trafficking methamphetamine,
- Trafficking synthetic cannabinoids
- Possession of marijuana
- Attempting to promote prison contraband in the second-degree
During the investigation, ADOC units recovered a backpack in the suspects’ possession that included:
- Approximately 171 gross grams of methamphetamine
- Approximately 802 gross grams of marijuana
- Approximately 87 gross grams of white printer paper sprayed with synthetic cannabinoids
- 17 cell phones
- 16 sets of wireless earbuds
- 19 USB wires
- 7 USB blocks
- 3 pocketknives
- 1 digital scale
- 99 Black N Milds
- 1 bottle of Patron Tequila
Both suspects are being held at the Elmore County Jail. The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be pending…
