MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) — The Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs says there are more than 400,000 veterans in the state. Now, those men and women who served have access to a one-stop-shop resource center in the state’s capital to help in the transition to veteran life.

In just the last two days, the state says around 20 veterans have already come in for help. The state says this resource center will help all veterans, from those who served full-time to those who served in the National Guard and Reserves who might not be eligible for VA benefits.
