Red flag fire warning issued in several Alabama counties

ALABAMA (WRBL) — An urgent red flag warning has been issued in several counties in the southern half of central Alabama until 6 p.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, the fire warning was issued around 9 a.m. Monday morning. The following counties are under red flag warnings:

  • Pickens
  • Tuscaloosa
  • Shelby
  • Talladega
  • Clay
  • Randolph
  • Sumter
  • Greene
  • Hale
  • Perry
  • Bibb
  • Chilton
  • Coosa
  • Tallapoosa
  • Marengo
  • Dallas
  • Autauga
  • Lowndes
  • Elmore
  • Montgomery
  • Macon
  • Bullock
  • Barbour

Winds are predicted to reach up to 25 miles per hour with a relative humidity as low as 22%.

Residents in the affected counties are advised not to start any burns until the warning is lifted…
