Gov. Kay Ivey on Tuesday announced a $40 million bond issue for Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, saying that saving the 80-year-old facility is essential for the Capital City and the surrounding area.
The hospital filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy a few weeks ago but said it would remain open and patient care would not change.
“Losing a hospital in one of our large metropolitan areas would be devasting not just for the Montgomery community, but for the many residents in the surrounding counties it serves,” Ivey said in a press release…
