Alabama Woman Arrested After Authorities Employ Spike Mat On Interstate To Stop Her Erratic Driving

The rush-hour ride home was an eventful one for many motorists in the Lewiston/Auburn area on Tuesday afternoon, as authorities attempted to stop an Alabama woman from driving erratically along the interstate.

According to the Maine Department of Public Safety, emergency dispatchers in the area started receiving reports about a red SUV driving in an unsafe manner along I-95 in Auburn. Authorities say that callers reported seeing the vehicle weave in and out of traffic while traveling at a high rate of speed.

Troopers made their way to the location, but at first, they could not find the SUV in question. Shortly after, they encountered the driver in the southbound lane of the interstate, near Lewiston, at mile marker 83. Authorities tried to get the driver to stop, but she refused. So they used other methods.
