ALABAMA — A man is dead following a pursuit involving Lauderdale County deputies that ended in a pond Thursday afternoon, according to authorities.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Joe Hamilton said the incident began around 12:20 p.m. in the Anderson Community near County Road 656. Two deputies were investigating a report involving a man with active warrants and a stolen vehicle when they located the suspect in a vehicle.
According to the sheriff, the man fled the scene and allegedly attempted to strike deputies with his vehicle as he drove away. Deputies fired shots during the encounter. The suspect then traveled north on Highway 207, prompting a pursuit…
