This Day in History: March 21, 1965: Martin Luther King leads Selma-to-Montgomery march

SELMA, Ala. (WCSC) — Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led a civil rights march from Selma, Alabama, to the state’s capital in Montgomery on this day in 1965.

Nearly 3,000 people participated in the five-day march, which was held to protest the denial of nationwide voting rights to Black Americans.
