Suspect arrested in Friday night Montgomery homicide, victim identified

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – A suspect is under arrest in connection to a Friday night homicide investigation, the Montgomery Police Department is confirming.

The investigation started around 8:30 p.m. after police responded to the 900 block of Union Street on reports that someone had been shot.

First responders found the victim dead on the scene from a gunshot wound when they arrived. Police have since identified the victim as Kevin Pettus, 39, of Montgomery.

Roderick Purvis, 34, was identified and taken into custody “within minutes,” and charged with murder, MPD investigators said…
