NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The attorney representing the only woman on death row in Tennessee has joined the chorus of voices expressing concern over last week’s failed execution.
Christa Gail Pike is scheduled to be executed on September 30 for her role in the 1995 murder and torture Colleen Slemmer, a case often referred to as the “Job Corps Murder.”
Pike is one of three people convicted in the case.
But after the state failed to execute convicted killer Tony Carruthers last week due to issues establishing a backup line during his lethal injection, Pike’s attorney says her client could be facing a “torturous execution.”…
