Black bear

Black bears are common all over the state, especially wooded and mountainous regions, but human-bear interaction has been increasing. Black bears have incredible hearing and senses of smell, and are known to have some of the best noses in the animal kingdom, which is why trash should be locked up at night to prevent bear intrusions. While they look cumbersome, black bears are incredible swimmers and can run 30 miles an hour. Black bear babies are born blind and without fur and grow rapidly in hibernation…
