Middle Tennessee town announces that its founding mayor has died

NOLENSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Charles Knapper, the founding mayor of Nolensville, has died, the town announced on Tuesday.

The Town of Nolensville said on Facebook that Knapper, “whose vision, leadership, and dedication to public service helped shape the community we know today,” died on May 29. The 74-year-old’s cause of death was not announced. His obituary states that he died at Centennial Medical Center.

“Following Nolensville’s referendum to reincorporate in August 1996, Mayor Knapper was elected in the Town’s first municipal election and served as mayor from 1996 to 2006,” Nolensville officials said. “During those formative years, he played a vital role in establishing the foundation of local government and guiding the Town through a significant chapter in its history.”…
