SMYRNA, Tenn. (WGNS) – Door-to-door salespeople in Rutherford County are officially on notice. The Town of Smyrna launched a brand-new “No Solicitation” registry designed to give local homeowners peace of mind and keep unwanted visitors off their doorsteps.
Under the new system, Smyrna residents can easily log onto the town’s website and fill out a quick form to add their physical address to the official database. Once registered, the address goes onto a master list that commercial businesses must check before sending out their sales crews. If a salesperson ignores the list and knocks on a registered door anyway, the town will hit the company with official code violation fines.
Smyrna code enforcement staff say the rules strictly regulate commercial vendors who go neighborhood to neighborhood selling products or home services. To make the system work smoothly, the town created official window and door stickers. Registered residents can download a temporary copy online or pick up a permanent, official sticker for free during regular business hours at Smyrna Town Hall on South Lowry Street. Residents can sign up directly by visiting the official Town of Smyrna No Solicitation Page…
