NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Our hot and stormy summer continues today. Parts of our area have a very low severe thunderstorm risk, and other parts have extreme heat alerts.
The National Weather Service has issued heat advisories for some of our West Tennessee counties and some of our Southern Kentucky counties. Temperatures will be in the 90s, but with the high humidity, the heat index will rise above 105°. The heat advisories are in effect through Tuesday evening. Additional counties further east could be added.
Along with the heat alerts, severe thunderstorms are possible. The Storm Prediction Center has parts of southern Middle Tennessee under a level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather on Sunday.
On Monday, there is no severe thunderstorm risk, but a few thunderstorms could pop up in the afternoon. The bigger impact on Monday will be the heat. Temperatures will be in the mid 90s, and feel-like temperatures will be 100°+.
Heat continues to build on Tuesday, but the bigger story is a more substantial severe thunderstorm threat in the evening. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a level 1 and level 2 risk for most of our area.
