MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Tennessee education leaders are considering changes to the state’s teacher licensure testing process that supporters said could help address teacher vacancies while maintaining licensing standards.
The proposal would not eliminate teacher licensing requirements. Instead, it would allow teacher candidates who fail only part of certain Praxis licensure assessments to retake just the sections they did not pass rather than repeating the entire exam.
