Band reunites on 25th anniversary of 9/11

Three United States Marine veterans whose music career was interrupted by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, will reunite on the 25th anniversary of 9/11 for a special Mike Corrado Band performance in downtown Lynchburg.

Mike Corrado, Stacey Lamont Sydnor and Joe Yankel will perform Friday, September 11, 2026, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the pavilion beside the Moore County Courthouse. The concert is part of the pre-race event for the Tunnel to Towers 5K and is sponsored by Jack Daniel’s.

The story behind the reunion began at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where Corrado, Sydnor and Yankel met while serving on active duty in the Marine Corps. United by their service and a shared love of music, the three formed the Mike Corrado Band while still wearing the uniform.

After leaving active duty, the band took its music on the road, touring and building a growing following. That momentum— and the course of their lives— changed after the attacks of September 11, 2001. Corrado was called back to active duty and later deployed, putting the band’s rising career on hold as military service once again took priority…
