Overton holds off Independence for Class 4A title

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The gold ball is coming to Overton High.

Tournament Jordan Frison scored 19 points, and Xavier Alexander added 17 after going scoreless in Friday’s semifinal game as the Wolverines downed Independence, 66-57, in the TSSAA BlueCross Class 4A title game at the Murphy Center.

Jailen Hardaway added 15 for Overton and joined Frison and Alexander on the all-tournament team.

Overton — which was playing in the state tournament for the second time in school history and the first since 1963 — ends the year with a 33-11 record.
