NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A cat café for adoptable senior cats has found a new home after zoning issues booted them from their originally-planned location in Mt. Juliet.
According to owner Brandy Yates, she received a cease and desist letter from the City of Mt. Juliet on Jan. 11 telling her to immediately halt plans on the opening of what would have been the Senior Catio .
Yates also owns The Catio, a cat café in Music Valley near Opryland Hotel. The café is home to dozens of adoptable cats from Nashville Cat Rescue. Recently, Yates and her partners at the Catio decided to open a second facility open to only senior cats, which sometimes have difficulty adapting to the cat café life and need fewer animals around them and a quieter atmosphere.
The initial plan was to open in Mt. Juliet, but through the cease and desist letter, Yates learned that her dream location was more of a nightmare.

“We have to vacate the premises within 10 days because we are illegally in that building, because my landlord was never supposed to rent out that building to us,” she told News 2.
