George MacIntyre’s quote about his recruitment will leave Vols fans with a huge smile

Earlier this week, the Tennessee Vols landed a commitment from 2025 five-star quarterback George MacIntyre.

MacIntyre, 6-foot-5/190 lbs from Brentwood, TN, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 quarterback in the 2025 class and the No. 1 player in state of Tennessee. He’s also rated as the No. 9 overall player in the nation.

On Wednesday morning, MacIntyre joined 104.5 The Zone’s “Ramon, Kayla, and Will” and he dropped a quote about his recruitment that will leave Vols fans with a huge smile.

When MacIntyre committed to Tennessee on Monday, he posted a video where he said that committing to the Vols wasn’t a decision, it was a “calling”.

104.5 The Zone’s Will Boling asked MacIntyre about that quote on Wednesday morning and what it means to represent the state of Tennessee at the next level.

“They kinda brought that (representing his home state) up to me a while ago, the quarterback staff over at Tennessee,” said MacIntyre. “I didn’t really realize the true meaning of it until maybe a couple of months ago. Kinda just through talking to Peyton Manning, seeing how big he got. And he’s from New Orleans. Seeing how big other guys have gotten — Hendon Hooker is from North Carolina. The prospect of doing it in your own state is a big thing for me. I visited a lot of places across the country and still couldn’t find a place better than the one in my home state .”
