‘I finally feel like an adult’
There’s wonderful program at Church of the City, in Franklin, Tenn., where the mega-church gives used cars to folks who really need them. And Church of the City gave away 10 cars this week!
One of them went to a 21-year-old named Mayika London, who grew up tough. Dad disappeared soon after she was born, and mom has had struggles, ones that left her unable to parent. Makiya stayed with her grandmother, but her grandma died when Makiya was 11.
So Makiya ended up in the foster care system. That didn’t go so well. The girl, who had some unhealthy coping mechanisms now and then, ended up living in nearly 40 different foster homes before she aged out at 18.
