FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — Thanks to a fellow first responder, a Franklin firefighter was saved from serious injury after falling through a floor and getting trapped while battling a blaze Wednesday night.
The Franklin Fire Department said crews were dispatched just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24 to a fire at a two-story home with a walkout basement on Cambridge Place in the Royal Oaks subdivision.

Officials said Sgt. James Phillips with the Franklin Police Department was first on the scene. Footage from his body-worn camera — which you can watch by clicking here — shows heavy flames and smoke coming from the back of the house.
According to Fire Chief Glenn Johnson, several firefighters were inside the home when the kitchen floor collapsed beneath one of them, so a mayday was issued.
Since Fire Lt. Jeff Boggs and Rescue 2 crew didn’t find any occupants while searching the first floor, they reportedly started assisting other units with fire attack.
