Ishmael Sheckles, 23, was one of two men who allegedly knocked on the woman’s door and told her he had a search warrant
Authorities in Tennessee said they arrested a man who impersonated a police officer to steal money from a blind woman.
The Murfreesboro Police Department said in a news release posted to Facebook that Ishmael Sheckles, 23, was arrested on Thursday.
Sheckles and another man knocked on the woman’s door, “claiming they were the police and had a search warrant,” the department said in an earlier news release.
Then the woman opened her door and let them in. That same day, police said someone used her debit card to withdraw cash from an ATM and make other fraudulent transactions.
Police are still trying to identify the man who accompanied Sheckles.
But Sheckles is being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $46,000 bond, police said. He’s expected to appear in court on February 8 on various charges, including fraudulent use of a debit card, theft of property, aggravated burglary, and criminal impersonation.
