Authorities said a 2004 Honda Civic — driven by 49-year-old Diego Lux Gomez of Tennessee — was traveling east on I-24 when he ran off the right side of the roadway.

Gomez reportedly overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle, which resulted in the Honda facing the wrong way. According to officials, Gomez tried to get on the left shoulder but was struck by a Volvo tractor.

The Volvo tractor hit the driver’s side of the Honda and both vehicles came to a final stop on the center median, authorities said.
