MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 19-year-old was killed in a head-on crash that temporarily closed a portion of Interstate 24 early Tuesday morning in Murfreesboro.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the crash happened at approximately 5:35 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-24 near mile marker 82.2 on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

Authorities reported 19-year-old Bianca Benford was traveling east on I-24 in a 2018 Nissan Altima when, for reasons unknown, the vehicle crossed the median and struck a 2023 Nissan Rogue.
Benford died in the crash, and was not wearing her seat belt, according to a crash report provided by THP.
The 50-year-old driver of the Rogue was wearing his seat belt and sustained injuries in the crash, authorities said. However, the extent of his injuries remain unknown.

As of 7 a.m., crews opened all eastbound lanes. The TDOT Smartway Map showed the westbound lanes reopened just before 8:30 a.m.
