3 detained for pursuit involving stolen car, pointing gun toward officers

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – Three suspects have been detained in Murfreesboro after they allegedly pointed handguns at officers and lead them on a pursuit in a stolen car.

Murfreesboro police said officers responded to the area of E. Lytle Street after receiving reports of people showing a handgun in a black Nissan Altima. A short time later, a license plate recognition camera notified officers that the car was stolen.

Officers started following the car and tried to stop it, but to no avail. The driver then traveled down Old Fort Parkway and then onto I-24, according to officials.

Police said the pursuit ended after a Rutherford County deputy saw the stolen car and stopped it on the Medical Center Parkway on-ramp at Exit 76.

No one was injured, according to investigators.

Authorities said two men and a woman were immediately detained and charges are pending. The trio could face charges of aggravated assault on a police officer and theft over $10,000 for the stolen car.
