Man killed after SUV hits guardrail, concrete barrier on I-65 in Brentwood

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 70-year-old man has died following a Tuesday morning crash along Interstate 65 in Williamson County, officials said.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the crash took place near mile marker 73 along I-65 North on Tuesday, Feb. 6.

Officials said 70-year-old William Boyd Smith was traveling in the northbound lanes on I-65 in a 2019 Toyota Highlander when, for reasons unknown, his vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail.

After hitting the guardrail, Smith’s vehicle crossed all four lanes of traffic and then struck the center concrete barrier before coming to a final rest, THP said.

According to THP, Smith was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

No additional details were released about the deadly incident.
