Rico Doss, Jr., 18, faces two counts of criminal homicide after a shooting at Meigs Magnet School’s parking lot in East Nashville on Thursday night. The victims, identified as Takeo Bills, 16, from Chapel Hill, Tennessee, and Jalen McAdams, 17, from Franklin, Tennessee, arrived at the location in a white Nissan Altima around 6:50 p.m.

Doss and another person, already present in a black Honda Accord, joined the victims in the Altima. Shortly after, Bills and McAdams were shot. Doss and his companion left the Altima and escaped in the Honda. McAdams died at the scene, while Bills passed away after reaching Vanderbilt.

The shooting’s motive is under investigation, with a possible drug-related angle being considered. Detectives tracked the Honda’s movements post-shooting, leading to a nearby apartment complex. Further investigation identified Doss as a potential suspect.

Doss was arrested early today at his Bellevue apartment on Old Hickory Boulevard. He was apprehended on an existing warrant for attempted criminal homicide from a previous shooting incident last Saturday. The earlier case involved a 17-year-old shot in the leg during a botched marijuana deal on Westchester Drive.
