Long-Serving MPD Lieutenant Melonie Roche Retires After 25 Years of Service

The Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) in Tennessee has announced Lieutenant Melonie Roche’s retirement. Roche served the department for nearly 25 years. She started as a patrol officer in July 1999, became a Patrol Division Sergeant in 2006, and was promoted to Administrative Services Division Lieutenant in 2019. She also held roles as a department instructor, background investigator, and training coordinator.

Roche graduated from the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command and the TBI Leadership Academy. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from Bethel University. On February 9, 2024, MPD recognized her service in a private ceremony, presenting her with her badge and service weapon.

Roche reflected on her career with gratitude, stating, ‘I’ve had a fulfilling career with many positive experiences. The department and the city have treated me well. I will miss working with some of the country’s best police officers.’

Before joining MPD, Roche worked as a police officer at Vanderbilt University and as a Patrol and Bike Patrol Officer at the Gallatin Police Department. Her law enforcement career spans 30 years, showing her dedication to public safety.
