Parents of fallen Brentwood officer fighting against parole for woman charged in his death

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Middle Tennessee family is calling for parole to be rejected for the woman convicted in connection with a 2020 crash that killed a Brentwood police officer.

Destin Legieza , was a third-generation law enforcement officer who served with the Brentwood Police Department for five years. Family and friends knew him to be positive, outgoing, and a die-hard Titans fan.

On June 18, 2020, Destin had 20 minutes left in his shift when a woman drove on the wrong side of the road while under the influence, hitting and killing him.

“When you have to walk into an ER and see your child laying on a gurney, lifeless, even today, it still doesn’t seem real,” Destin’s mother, Julie Ray, explained.
