Franklin family displaced after home catches fire

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) – A family of three has been displaced after their Franklin home caught fire Friday morning.

The Franklin Fire Department said crews were dispatched to a two-story home on Freedom Drive just after 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23. When firefighters arrived on scene, they found flames and heavy black smoke coming from the attached garage.

Crews were able to quickly get the fire under control and prevented the flames from extending into the living space, according to officials.

Firefighters said no injuries were reported and the family was able to get out safely after being alerted by a neighbor.

Franklin Fire Marshal Andy King said the fire started in the garage and the cause is still under investigation. He estimated the damage at $100,000.
