The National Guard Association of Tennessee (NGATN) is preparing to mark its 100th anniversary in Murfreesboro from February 23-25. The Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center will host the event, which begins with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Officers from the Tennessee Army and Air National Guard will gather to discuss the NGATN’s 100-year service history.

Retired Col. Byron Deel, the NGATN Executive Director, emphasized the association’s dedication to national defense, support for Tennessee National Guard members, and efforts to build public relationships. The conference will highlight the NGATN’s work in the state and its ongoing mission to serve and protect communities.

The NGATN, founded in 1924, is a non-profit that pushes for laws to strengthen Tennessee’s defense and militia. The association has been instrumental in educating state leaders and the public about the need for an organized militia, especially after World War I.

The conference will include events to celebrate the NGATN’s 100th year and discussions on improving the relationship between the Tennessee National Guard and the public. The NGATN meets yearly to review its status and plan ways to better serve Tennessee’s citizens and communities.
