2 arrested, estimated $16K+ worth of drugs found in Shelbyville apartment

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Law enforcement reportedly took two wanted people into custody and seized thousands of dollars’ worth of drugs while executing a search warrant at a Shelbyville apartment earlier this week.

According to the Shelbyville Police Department, detectives who were working with the 17th District Drug Task Force executed the warrant in the 500 block of White Street on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Authorities said the goal of the operation was to apprehend Shaun Earl Gibson, who was wanted for probation violation and failure to appear. Even though Gibson allegedly tried to barricade himself in his bathroom, he was taken into custody without incident.

Police said they also found and arrested a female in the bedroom who was wanted on six active warrants. There is no word on that woman’s identity or the nature of the warrants against her.

While clearing the premises, detectives and agents spotted illicit substances and paraphernalia in plain view, so they obtained a secondary search warrant, which led to the seizure of “substantial amounts of narcotics,” according to officials:
