Brentwood police mourn loss of longtime narcotics detection K9

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Brentwood Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its police canines. K9 Lexie, a 15-year-old Belgian Malinois who served BPD for several years, died Thursday night. Lexie was still a young pup when she trained in Northport, Alabama at the Alabama Canine Law Enforcement Training Center, where she learned how to detect the odor of controlled substances, including cocaine, methamphetamines and heroin. She became a narcotics detection canine.
