NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Fourth of July holiday will feature very humid air plus the risk of thunderstorms (some strong) that could impact your outdoor plans.
The heat dome high is moving back into the Southeast United States and Tennessee Valley, driving temperatures to the 90s through the end of the week.
FORECAST: Middle Tennessee & Southern Kentucky Weather
The more grueling part of the heat is the humidity. Middle Tennessee had a small break on Monday with the drier air from the northeast. Now through late Friday, the south/southwest wind will bring back the Gulf moisture, making it feel like 100°+. This is because the dew point temperature will climb to the upper 60s and the 70s.
While the heat will be the dominating concern, there is a secondary issue of strong to severe thunderstorms. This will be focused on Wednesday through Friday. There is no defined risk for Friday, but on Wednesday and Thursday, there is a Marginal Risk (Level 1/5) is in effect for all of Southern Kentucky and parts of Middle Tennessee.
