PHOTO GALLERY: Volunteer third at Siegel Invitational

MURFREESBORO — The Volunter boys cross country team turned in an impressive third-place finish at the competitive Siegel Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 14, at the VA Golf Course in Murfreesboro.

Siegel High School won the meet with 50 points. Franklin’s Nilsen Hurst won the boys’ race with a time of 16:20.56 to lead his team to a second-place finish with 59 points. The Falcons placed five runners in the top 25 to finish two points out of second place in the 20-team field with 61 points.

Senior Roman Borghetti-Metz led the way for Volunteer, finishing fourth with a time of 16:50.71 in the 174-runner field. Kevin McCurry crossed in sixth with a time of 17:00.13.

Carter Manis and Joshua Hathaway came in 15th and 16th with times of 17:54.02 and 17:58.32, respectively. Isaac Jennings came in at No. 21 with a time of 18:14.35.

Other Falcons who competed included Daniel Miller (21:25.83), Leonel Trejo (23:07.94), Garren Barnett (23:08.57) and Jack Flanery (24:32.64). They all turned in season’s best times.
