After chase that reached 90 mph, Bay County deputies arrest Tennessee man

PANAMA CITY — The Bay County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday announced the arrest of a Tennessee man on multiple charges.

According to a BCSO press release, a deputy who was heading home after working a 12-hour shift observed a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Tennessee. The vehicle was spotted on Highway 77 near White Oaks Boulevard.

The Tennessee man, later identified as Gunner Hillard, was arrested on charges of fleeing and eluding, resisting without violence, and unlawful concealed carry of a weapon.

“The deputy attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the suspect continued southbound on 77 through Southport leading deputies on a pursuit with speeds reaching up to 90 mph,” the release says.

Spike strips were set up during the pursuit. Deputies then performed a P.I.T. maneuver on the Bailey Bridge before Hillard had a chance to make it into Lynn Haven, according to the release.

Hillard is wanted for questioning for potential felony charges in Alabama. He is being held at the Bay County Jail.
