A fire update on the Flint Gap fire in the Great Smokey Mountains national park, which has been burning for more than three weeks, now says the fire is 75% contained as of September 22. The park received a report of the fire near Hannah Mountain, south of Abrams Creek on August 26 with an investigation revealing that the fire was started by lightning. No structures have been in danger because of the fire’s slow burn. The fire had grown to 58 acres as of late last week. Firefighters have faced challenges reaching the remote area.
