Kidnapping thwarted after pursuit into Mt. Juliet

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — A kidnapping suspect was taken into custody early Friday morning after a pursuit through multiple counties ended in Mt. Juliet.

Mt. Juliet police reported the incident began in Nashville when a man holding a woman against her will was pursued into Rutherford County where he hit a law enforcement vehicle and drove away.

According to court documents, 31-year-old Eddie Martinez was waiting outside the victim’s work on Donelson Pike and jumped in the driver’s seat and took her keys when she went out to her vehicle to get a water bottle.

The victim and Martinez were acquaintances but had not seen each other in several years. Martinez told the victim he was taking her car because “people were after him” and she got into the car hoping to talk him out of taking it, according to Metro police.
