State parks plan First Day Hikes

What is your new year’s resolution? If it involves getting in shape or being more active, then start the year off right by getting outdoors for a First Day Hike at one of Tennessee’s state parks on New Year’s Day.

First Day Hikes are part of a nationwide initiative led by America’s state parks to encourage people to get outdoors. Kids and adults all across America will be participating in First Day Hikes, getting their hearts pumping and enjoying the beauty of a state park.

First Day Hikes in Tennessee’s state parks are designed for all ages and abilities and are offered at various times of the day. Most of the hikes are free. However, donations will be accepted.

Anyone interested in participating can register by clicking on the event at their park of choice at https://tnstateparks.com/about/special-events/first-day-hikes/. Be sure to register for updates and schedule changes.

The Light Up the Night lantern hike at Warriors’ Path State Park in Kingsport is sold out. However, there are several other hikes planned at state parks in the Northeast Tennessee region. Here’s a brief look at some of those:
