MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Tennessee will get a piece of the record $41.6 million settlement Family Dollar is paying for for unsanitary, rat-infested conditions at its distribution center in West Memphis, Arkansas, state officials said Tuesday.
Family Dollar Stores, a subsidiary of Dollar Tree, has agreed to pay Tennessee $1.125 million, Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti said in a news release.

“No matter the family budget, whether at a discount shop or not, every Tennessean deserves confidence in the food they buy,” Skrmetti said. “This settlement holds Family Dollar accountable and protects Tennessee families from being sold harmful or mislabeled food.”
