NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A Tennessee lawmaker is calling on Gov. Bill Lee to address school shootings during his upcoming special session surrounding school choice and hurricane relief following Wednesday morning’s deadly shooting in the cafeteria of Antioch High School.
State Rep. Jason Powell (D-Nashville) is asking Lee to expand the scope of the upcoming special session to address “The epidemic of school shootings, gun violence and hate in Tennessee.”
Powell adds that “The students and teachers, must now live with the unimaginable trauma of experiencing a school shooting. Our classrooms should be sacred places to learn, and students, teachers, administrators, and parents should feel the greatest sense of safety in every school in Tennessee.”…
