Childcare licensing bill passes in TN, paves way for more affordable, accessible childcare

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A childcare licensing bill has passed in the Tennessee House and Senate with unanimous support on Tuesday afternoon, removing certain requirements for a daycare to be considered legal.

It’s part of an effort by Gov. Bill Lee to make childcare more accessible and affordable in Tennessee. It was one topic he touched on in February’s State of the State.

Lee said too many families have been left without viable childcare options. With that in mind, Lee said he plans to sign the legislation into law once it lands on his desk…
