MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — On Friday, the City of Murfreesboro broke ground on the much-anticipated Veterans Park .
The massive undertaking is set to deliver a greenspace unique to the area; it’s been a vision for city council members since the early 2000s. The 150-acre property on Veterans Parkway, near Interstate 840, will undergo a major transformation over the next 18 months.

“We mentioned an open play space that will really be for pick-up games — soccer, throwing a Frisbee, flying a kite — to event spaces where they can host special events, festivals, music performances and that will be a little more formal space,” said John Lavender, Project Executive with Gresham Smith.
