Memphis, TN – A Tornado Watch is in effect for much of western Tennessee, including the Memphis metro area, through 11 p.m. Sunday as severe storms threaten the region with damaging winds, large hail, and the risk of tornadoes.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, multiple counties across the Mid-South—such as Shelby, Tipton, Fayette, Crockett, Gibson, and Lauderdale—are included in the watch area. Forecasters warn that some tornadoes could be strong (EF-2 or greater), with wind gusts reaching up to 80 mph and hail up to 2 inches in diameter possible.
