NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Much of Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky saw some sunshine and a well-deserved break from heavy rain and severe weather Friday, but the area’s not out of the woods yet.
More heavy rain and severe thunderstorms are in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday. Area rivers are already high — and with several more inches of rain in the forecast, they’re expected to get even higher.
According to the National Water Prediction Service, the Cumberland River in Nashville is currently at just over 33 feet. This is at an action flood stage. Fortunately, it isn’t expected to get much higher.
In Clarksville, the Cumberland River is even higher. It’s currently at minor flood stage and is forecasted to reach moderate flood stage by Monday, April 7.
The Red River in Port Royal is expected to flood even worse. It is currently at moderate flood stage, and it is expected to go down a little before reaching major flood stage by Monday.
