Big Lots Is Back: Stores reopened on April 10 following bankruptcy.

Major Comeback for Big Lots

Big Lots is reopening stores after filing for bankruptcy and closing many locations in 2024. Some stores reopened on April 10, thanks to a deal with Gordon Brothers Retail Partners. Variety Wholesalers, a company that owns discount stores, bought 219 Big Lots locations and two distribution centers to help bring the brand back.

New Deals and More Products

Lisa Seigies, CEO of Variety Wholesalers, shared her excitement about reopening Big Lots stores. “We’re excited to bring Big Lots back with more deals than ever, popular brands, and even a new clothing section for the whole family,” she said in a press release.

Customers can expect newly updated stores, great discounts, and expanded product categories, including clothing and electronics. Seigies also mentioned that stores will continue to add new products every week, leading up to a big grand opening celebration in the fall.

More Stores Opening in the Coming Months

In addition to the April 10 opening, 55 more Big Lots stores will reopen on May 1 . More stores will continue to open through early June, helping Big Lots regain its place as a top discount retailer. The first round of reopened stores will be in Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia:

  • 1041 S Riverside Dr, Clarksville, TN
  • 744 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, TN
  • 220 Dickson Plaza Dr, Dickson, TN
  • 2911 Hershberger Rd NW, Roanoke, VA

Further reopenings will occur in North Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and West Virginia, with other states also included in the expansion.

Other Companies Taking Over Big Lots Locations

Big Lots isn’t the only company benefiting from these changes. Other discount retailers are moving into former Big Lots locations.
